Microsoft released updates for Office 2008 and Office 2011 for the Mac on Wednesday. The updates addressed issues with each suite’s email application, and the Office 2011 update also disabled the ability to import messages from Lion’s Mail app into Outlook because the feature isn’t working as expected.

Office 2008 12.3.1 updated Entourage’s timezones feature to match Outlook 2011, and fixed language display issues for Word Help.
Office 2011 14.1.3 also addressed display issues in Outlook, fixed stability issues in Excel and PowerPoint, and corrected a display issue with citations in Dutch.
The Office 2008 12.3.1 and Office 2011 14.1.3 updates are available through in-app update options, or as downloads at the Microsoft Web site.

I don’t understand why I have to quit Safari in order to update Office. What is the connection between the two?
Sir Harry - I’m guessing it wants to replace the Silverlight plugin.
That is probably it Hugh. I rarely run into anything that it needs, but it is installed.
This update totally broke outlook for me. It crashes every time I open it. I’ve deleted prefs and it still doesn’t work.
