Pausing iPhone and iPod touch App Downloads

· by · TMO Quick Tip

Apple makes it easy to download or update apps directly on your iPhone or iPod touch thanks to the built-in App Store application. What isn't obvious, however, is that you can control when specific apps download thanks to the not-so-obvious pause feature.

You can pause an app download or update by simply tapping the application's icon once the download process begins. Tapping the app icon again resumes the download, and paused downloads are easy to spot because they all show "Paused" instead of the application name.

Pause app downloads by tapping the application's icon.

This is a handy way to prioritize downloads and updates when you're facing a time crunch, or dealing with slow 3G or EDGE data speeds -- and it doesn't require any special hacks to work.
