Telltale Brings Tales of Monkey Island to the Mac, Opens Voting For Next Release

SAN FRANCISCO – Telltale Games on Thursday released the Mac OS X version of Tales of Monkey Island, the fifth release in the popular Monkey Island series featuring irreverent humor and a cast of goofy characters, and announced that gamers can vote for the title they want Telltale to release for the Mac next.

Founded by former LucasArts employees who had a hand in Monkey Island and other adventure games released in the late 1980s and 1990s, Telltale publishes its games as “seasons” consisting of multiple episodes each released a few months apart. Tales of Monkey Island features five episodes that take hapless wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood on a quest to cure the voodoo pox that has afflicted him and defeat his nemesis, LeChuck.

Telltale’s poll lets gamers choose from three series: Sam & Max, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, and Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. The poll ends Feb. 21 and the winning game will be published in March, with one voter’s name permanently enshrined in the credits. Telltale says, however, that all three games will make their way to the Mac, regardless of which one snags the most votes.

Telltale is showing off Tales of Monkey Island and other games in booth #786 at this week’s Macworld Expo.
