Xmas Crackers for iPhone is a Treat for the Kids

· by · Quick Look Review

Xmas Crackers for the iPhone and iPod touch creates a Christmas cracker with all the usual goodies inside. While Christmas music plays, each cracker can be opened to reveal a joke, an anagram, a riddle, and a suggested charade. It's aimed at pre-teens, and is great fun.

Xmas Crackers

This modest app is simplicity itself. Use a two-finger pinch gesture to open the cracker, then the fun begins. The answer to the riddles and anagram is there with a touch of a button, and it's easy to go back and forth. There are over 50 variations.

The various Christmas music selections played in the background are traditional and soothing. The help page simply shows how to open the cracker to reveal the goodies. That's it. And all of it is just good clean fun. Nothing offensive to be found here.

I think this app will be perfect for pre-teems with an iPod touch. However, one negative is that, with only 50 variations, the game could become quickly exhausted of content. Several hundred pages would be nice. Also, if one of the cracker pages is found interesting, there's no way to get to a catalog of pages or find that cracker again in the future. But, hey, for the price, maybe that's too much to ask.

Xmas Crackers for iPhone or iPod touch from T.A. Walker Concepts Ltd is priced at US$0.99 and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am unaware of any other oversights.

I will release a quick update to remedy the problem.

Please enjoy all the other crackers.

While the author is fixing that anagram snafu and is preparing an update, I posted a new set of Q & A screen shots at his request.
