Your OS X Menu Bar is Prime Real Estate

Dr. Mac says, "I'm not normal; I've currently got more than 25 menu bar apps in addition to the handful included with Yosemite. But I happen to like menu bar apps... a lot...  and I find all of the ones I have installed useful in some way."

Here are a few of my faves...

GoGroove SonaVERSE BX Portable Stereo Speaker System w/ Rechargeable Battery

4:05 PM, Apr. 1st, 2015 · Bob LeVitus · Cool Stuff Found

My buddy Trevor over at Accessory Power alerted me to another outstanding deal - this time on a little non-Bluetooth rechargeable speaker called GOgroove SonaVERSE BX Portable Stereo Speaker System.  While I didn't actually test this one (I've got way too many portable speakers already), I expect it to sound pretty darn good for its size and price based on hundreds of positive reviews and its 4.1 star Amazon.com rating. The best part is: That price has never been lower—with an SRP of $64.99, you can have one of your very own for a mere $14.99, and shipping is free. Design features include 2 large, side-firing drivers that (allegedly) provide room-filling stereophonic sound; a rechargeable battery that provides 3-5 hours of continuous audio playback; and a 3 Year Manufacturer's Warranty.

The (New) Mouse of Dr. Mac’s Dreams

Logitech MX Master Mouse

This week in Dr. Mac's Rants & Raves #116, I tell you about my latest infaturation -- Logitech’s just-released MX Master mouse, which includes the best speed-adaptive scroll wheel I’ve ever used. That alone would be worth the price of admission to me, but the new MX Master mouse has much more to love. For example...

iRig 2: New and Improved Mobile Guitar Interface from IK Multimedia

3:10 PM, Mar. 23rd, 2015 · Bob LeVitus · Cool Stuff Found

I've used the original iRig to play my guitars through my iDevices with IK Multimedia's AmpliTube and Apple's GarageBand (free) apps for years. It was a workhorse and a bargain at $39.99, but my one complaint was that it lacked an input gain control, so I had to record some of my guitars at lower-than-I'd-have-liked recording levels. iRig 2,the successor to my venerable iRig shipped last week, fixing my only complaint and adding new features like a 1/4" amplifier output jack, FX/Thru switch, and Android compatibility  (not that I care)—all at the same low price ($39.99 - Amazon link). If you want to play your guitar through your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, I can't think of a better or more reasonably-priced way to connect it than iRig 2.

This looks like a heck of a deal. GOgroove BlueVIBE EXS+ Ergonomic Bluetooth Sports Headphones that have sold for up to $79.99, available for just $19.99 with free shipping from Amazon. I haven't tried them, but would have bought them in a heartbeat if I weren't already up to my ears in headsets. According to the manufacturer, it has, built-in onboard controls and an integrated microphone, built-in rechargeable battery with 10 hours of audio playback, and more. This deal ends Friday March 6, so if you're going to get some, get 'em sooner rather than later.
