A review of the Tech Specs in the Apple Store suggests that the new iMac 21” has the same CPU as the latest 13” MacBook Air, that is, 1.4 GHz DUAL-core i5 Haswell and the same graphics as well. In addition, the iMac also has 8 GB of memory to the Air’s 4 GB. Bringing the Air to 8 GB brings the price to $1099.
Granted that the iMac is not as portable as the Air, but following Kelly Guimont’s comment on the daily show, one gets a pretty good display with the iMac. The price for the performance seems about right to me.
