Just Mobile’s AluPocket For iPhone: a Good Solution for Neatnicks

| Quick Look Review

Just Mobile has released another one of its unique and useful products with the introduction of the AluPocket. It attaches neatly to a wall or any flat surface to hold your iPhone or iPod touch out of the way, but in easy reach. It works with or without your phone case. It will work with all versions of the iPhone and the iPod touch.

AluPocket

The product is crafted from high-grade aluminum and molded plastic. It includes a cable slot and connector recess to further present a neat and clean appearance.

The AluPocket measures 5.1 x 5.1 x 1.2-in (12.9 x 12.9 x 3.2-cm) and weighs only 3.6 oz (102 g). It attaches using glue-free tape and can be easily removed without damaging walls.

Using The Product

This products feels very substantial in spite of the very light weight. It is quite attractive and modern looking which is characteristic of all the products from Just Mobile.

Although it easily fastens to a flat wall surface, I choose to attach it to the side of my large printer/scanner/copier which sits on my desk within easy reach.

I used it that way for several weeks before writing this review. The tape seemed to create a really solid attachment, and my iPhone didn't seem at risk.  However, the surface you attach to must be really flat and smooth. A rough surface of any kind won't work.

Do I Recommend It?

I do. It is useful and attractive, matching the look and feel of Apple products. It stays in place once attached to a surface and can be removed from that surface easily and without leaving residue. With an MSRP of US$29.95, it is reasonably priced.

When I saw the beauty shot at the top I thought about all those peripheral ads showing a very neat desk with no cables. (Unlike my very spaghetti-y desk).

Yes, this picture has cables, but they are really short! Then I looked on their site and indeed, they sell a 10cm lighting cable. What’s funny is that their short cable has gratuitous “premium aluminum” adorning the ends. I guess the designer of the photo thought it would be a bit much!
