Apple Watch 11 battery boost is real, just not by 33%

Apple now rates Apple Watch Series 11 for up to 24 hours per charge, a jump from the long-standing 18-hour figure used since 2015. The bigger number is real, but it’s mostly the result of a new “typical use” test that adds six hours of sleep tracking to the mix.

Sleep tracking is lower drain than daytime use with constant notifications, workouts, and LTE. That means the new spec doesn’t translate to six extra hours of awake time for everyone. Early teardowns and Apple’s own materials point to only modest efficiency and capacity gains, which is why real-world endurance will still vary widely by how you use the watch.

If you already wore your Apple Watch overnight, Series 11 should fit that day-night rhythm more comfortably. If you were hoping for a dramatic daytime battery leap, temper expectations. The claim aligns the marketing with how many owners use the product rather than signaling a breakthrough cell or chip change.
