Apple released HomePod Software 26.2 on Friday, December 12, and it did not take long for the next test build to arrive. HomePod Software 26.3 beta 1 is now available to registered developers, giving early testers a first look at what is coming next.
This first 26.3 beta carries build number 23K5585c. If you run a HomePod in your home setup, this is the same kind of beta drop Apple typically uses to start a new point-cycle, before any clear feature list emerges.
How to update HomePod Software 26.3 beta 1
- Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad, sign in with the Apple ID enrolled in developer beta access.
- Tap the More button, then go to Home Settings.
- Select Software Update.
- Turn on Beta Updates for HomePod, then pick the 26.3 developer beta option.
- Keep HomePod plugged in and on Wi-Fi, then let the update download and install.
After it finishes, you can confirm the version inside the Home app’s software update screen.
What’s new in 26.3 beta 1
Apple has not published a detailed HomePod-specific changelog for this first beta yet, and that is normal for early builds. In practice, these early HomePod updates usually focus on performance, stability, and behind-the-scenes fixes rather than big new user-facing switches.
If you install it, watch for the things that matter in daily use: Siri reliability, HomeKit responsiveness, stereo pair stability, AirPlay handoff behavior, and audio dropouts. Those are the areas where HomePod software updates most often make a difference over time.
