There were reports that Apple Card could get a new issuer. Apple has now confirmed that Chase will take over, replacing Goldman Sachs. The company says the transition will happen in about 24 months. Until then, you can keep using your card the same way you do today.
During this period, your day-to-day experience stays the same. You can pay bills, earn Daily Cash, and manage everything inside the Wallet app. Apple says you do not need to take any action right now. As the transition date gets closer, it will share any updates directly with users.
Apple announced the change in a press release. Here is the key statement from its newsroom announcement:
āDuring this transition, Apple Card users can continue to use their card as they normally do. More information, including FAQs, is available at learn.applecard.apple/transition. Additional details will be shared with users as the transition date approaches.ā
For Apple Card users
In short, nothing changes for now. You keep your account, your card, and your rewards. Over time, Chase will become the bank behind Apple Card.
Here are the main things Apple has confirmed:
- No need to reapply. Existing users keep their accounts.
- Mastercard stays. The payment network does not change.
- Your balance stays active. You should continue paying your bill as usual. After the transition, open balances will move to Chase.
- Wallet app stays in control. You will keep managing your card inside the Wallet app and on Appleās website.
- Your physical card still works. You can keep using your current Apple Card.
- Savings access continues. Your Apple Card Savings account remains available.
- Daily Cash stays the same. You will still earn up to 3 percent unlimited Daily Cash on purchases.
- Monthly Installments remain. You can keep using Apple Card Monthly Installments for Apple products.
- No fees remain. Apple Card will still have no annual fees, no late fees, and no foreign transaction fees.
Upcoming changes
Once the transition is complete, Chase will appear as the issuing bank on your credit report. Until then, Goldman Sachs will continue to service Apple Card accounts. If any card numbers, physical cards, or account details change, Apple says it will notify users directly before that happens.
What you need to do now
Nothing. Apple says no action is required at this time. You can continue using your Apple Card as usual. When the transition date approaches, Apple will share any required steps or updates with users.
If you need help, you can still contact Apple Card support through the Wallet app or Appleās support site.
This shift marks a major change behind the scenes. For now, though, your Apple Card works the same way it always has.
