New MacBook Pro With OLED Enters Production Sooner Than Planned

Apple’s first touch MacBook Pro to Arrive with OLED Display and M6 Chip

Apple plans a major MacBook Pro redesign later this year or in early 2027. The biggest change is the screen. The new models will switch to OLED, and production of those displays has already begun.

That timing matters. It suggests Apple and its display partner are ahead of schedule for the next-generation MacBook Pro.

OLED Production Begins

The rumor comes from a Naver post by ‘yeux1122’. The source does not have a strong track record, so treat the claim with caution. Still, the timeline lines up with reporting from more reliable outlets.

According to the post, Samsung Display started mass production of an “8.6th generation OLED” panel for the MacBook Pro earlier than planned. Production was originally set for the second quarter of 2026. The report says it began on January 26 instead.

The post also claims these will be Apple’s first deliveries from that new production line and that the panels use a “dual-stack” design. It adds that the screen will offer “the best quality among laptop OLED ever released.”

New MacBook Pro Changes

The OLED panel is not the only upgrade. Apple plans to use the same tandem OLED technology found in the iPad Pro, which improves brightness and longevity. Reports also point to a thinner and lighter design.

The next redesign will reportedly introduce Apple’s M6 chip. In addition, Bloomberg has said Apple will add a touchscreen to the MacBook Pro for the first time. Another visible change should be at the top of the display. The current notch is expected to give way to a single hole-punch cutout for the FaceTime camera.

Before the OLED redesign arrives, Apple still has one update left for the current generation. New MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected soon.

After that, the M6 MacBook Pro lineup with OLED and a touchscreen should follow later this year or in early 2027. If the early production report is accurate, the display shift is already in motion.
