Apple’s next iPad Pro cycle looks quiet, and that calm may last longer than many buyers expect. The latest model already went through a major redesign in 2024, and after that change the company shifted to smaller internal updates instead of another dramatic refresh. That approach now appears set to continue, which means users should not expect visible design changes any time soon.
A big reason sits inside the screen. The OLED panel remains expensive, and lower production costs have not arrived yet. Because of that, Apple sees little value in pushing another costly redesign when the last one failed to boost sales in a meaningful way. The company will still update chips and connectivity, but the outer look stays largely familiar.
According to the leaker known as “Instant Digital” on Weibo, the tablet won’t be getting a major update for quite a while. The same source also suggests Apple has no plans for ultra-thin display borders like those seen on rival premium tablets.
What changes instead
The hardware roadmap focuses on internal upgrades. Apple already added the M5 chip in late 2025, and the next step points to an M6 processor with improved cooling similar to recent Pro iPhones. Reports place that shift toward late 2026 or even 2027.
For now, Apple Inc. treats the iPad Pro as a stable platform. Performance climbs gradually, but the design remains recognizable for several years.
