Apple has released version 3.8 of the Apple Sports app with major improvements focused on college basketball and international soccer, while also expanding availability across Latin America and the Caribbean. The update brings real-time NCAA tournament tracking, a dedicated soccer category, and support for more regional leagues, making it easier for fans to follow teams and competitions in one place.
The changes aim to help users track live results and discover more leagues without switching between apps. Apple Sports continues to build on its original promise of delivering scores, stats, standings, and upcoming games in a clean and simple layout.
Apple said the update allows fans to:
“Follow the Men’s and Women’s NCAA tournaments in real time, with brackets showcasing matchups and results at a glance for each round, so you can keep up with every game.”
The app now displays tournament brackets clearly, which helps users track each round without digging through multiple tabs.
Soccer expansion and new leagues
Version 3.8 also introduces a new Soccer category inside the Search section, which groups all supported leagues and cups in one place. Apple said this makes it “easier to find and follow your favorite leagues, cups, and more, all in one place.”
With this release, the app adds support for six Latin American men’s soccer leagues:
- Campeonato Brasileiro Série A
- Categoría Primera A
- Liga de Primera
- Liga Pro
- Liga Profesional de Fútbol
- Primera División del Perú
At the same time, Apple Sports is now available in 36 additional countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Peru. With this expansion, the app is available in 80 countries overall.
Apple first launched Apple Sports in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in February 2024 before expanding into Europe and Mexico. The Apple Sports app update is now live and free to download on the App Store for iPhone.
