Steve Jobs Archive Shares Letters to Young Creators Online

Steve Jobs’ 71st Birthday Today: A Moment to Remember

The Steve Jobs Archive has released a new online project titled Letters to a Young Creator, sharing thoughtful reflections from leaders across business, design, technology, and the arts. The collection arrives on what would have been Steve Jobs’ 71st birthday and opens a series of letters that were previously limited to print editions.

Letters to a Young Creator brings together honest advice on building meaningful work, written in response to questions from past and present fellows of the Archive. The title nods to Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet, one of Jobs’ favorite books, and reflects his belief in exchanging ideas to gain clarity.

The Steve Jobs Archive confirmed that these letters were earlier distributed only in select print runs during 2024 and 2025. Now, anyone can read them online and in the Apple Books app at no cost.

Tim Cook Reflects on Joining Apple

In a letter dated August 20, 2024, Apple CEO Tim Cook looked back at his first meeting with Steve Jobs and the decision that changed his career.

“I’ll never forget that first conversation with Steve. At the time, Apple had been struggling and Steve was working to right a ship that had drifted in his absence. Many people doubted the company could survive… But when Steve spoke, any trepidation I harbored instantly dissolved.”

Cook described Jobs as someone with “so much passion and vision,” speaking clearly about a future where technology could unlock human creativity and connect people in ways not yet imagined.

“In Steve, I found an incredible mentor… And in joining Apple, I traded a job for a purpose… It truly was the greatest decision I’ve ever made.”
