Apple’s first foldable iPhone has remained the subject of speculation for years, and the latest rumor adds another twist to the story. Many reports have referred to the device as the iPhone Fold, but a new claim suggests Apple plans to launch the foldable phone under a different name. According to the rumor, the company may call the device iPhone Ultra when it arrives later this year.
This possible name change connects the foldable phone with Apple’s premium branding strategy. The “Ultra” label already signals top-tier products in Apple’s lineup, and the foldable iPhone would sit at the very top of the company’s smartphone range if the report turns out to be accurate.

A post circulating on the Chinese social platform Weibo claims that Apple will position the foldable device as the “most expensive iPhone in history.” The same post states that “it’s not a new model, it’s a folding screen named iPhone Ultra, which starts at over 10,000 yuan.”
Apple may introduce several “Ultra” products
The same rumor also claims Apple plans to unveil three Ultra-branded products this year. These include the foldable iPhone Ultra, a new pair of AirPods Ultra, and a MacBook Ultra with an OLED touchscreen.
According to the claim, the entry-level iPhone Ultra will cost more than CNY 10,000 (~$1500), while the highest configuration may exceed CNY 20,000 (~$2900). If Apple follows this strategy, the Ultra branding will represent the most expensive products across the company’s phone, audio, and laptop categories.
Still, the report remains an unconfirmed rumor, and Apple has not revealed any official details about a foldable iPhone or the Ultra naming plan.
