“I’m Not Political”: Tim Cook Speaks Out on Trump Relationship Criticism

Apple CEO Tim Cook said he does not align with any political side, even as criticism grows over his recent interactions with the Trump administration. He addressed concerns about his attendance at political events and his company’s engagement with government leaders.

Cook spoke about the issue during a recent interview on “Good Morning America,” where he explained how he approaches such relationships.

According to Business Insider, the backlash followed Cook’s appearance at a documentary screening and his reported donation to Donald Trump’s inaugural committee in 2025.

“I’m not a political person on either side. I’m not political.”

Cook said he focuses on policy decisions that affect Apple’s business rather than political affiliations. He added that access to government leaders helps the company address key issues such as manufacturing and trade.

Focus on policy and US investment

Cook pointed to Apple’s growing investment in the United States, including a $600 billion plan to expand domestic manufacturing over the next four years. He said parts like iPhone glass will soon come from Kentucky, showing a shift toward local production.

“What I do is I interact on policy, not politics.”

This approach has helped Apple secure partial tariff relief, though the company still reported a $1.4 billion tariff cost in a recent quarter. Cook said Apple will watch court decisions before taking further steps on refunds.

Cook continues to balance business priorities with public scrutiny as his relationship with the administration evolves.
