Apple Mac Studio Deliveries Now Delayed Up to 5 Months Due to RAM Shortage

Buying an Mac Studio Now Means Waiting Until August or September

Apple is now facing long shipping delays for its most powerful Mac Studio configuration, and the issue comes down to memory supply as high-end RAM remains difficult to secure due to growing demand from AI servers.

When you try to order the M3 Ultra Mac Studio with higher memory today, Apple shows delivery timelines stretching up to four or five months, which pushes April orders into August or even September if the estimate holds.

The delay mainly affects the 256GB RAM variant, which is currently the highest available option after Apple quietly removed the 512GB configuration last month. Apple had introduced 512GB RAM as a new high point for the M3 Ultra, but supply pressure forced the company to stop offering it even for customers willing to pay a premium.

At the same time, upgrading memory remains expensive, as moving from 96GB to higher tiers can add thousands to the total price, which already starts around $4000 for the base M3 Ultra Mac Studio. Buyers who push configurations closer to $6000 now face longer wait times with limited upgrade choices.

Supply pressure continues to affect availability

Even the standard 96GB RAM model does not ship immediately, with Apple quoting delivery windows of about one week, which shows that inventory remains tight across the lineup. This situation reflects a broader industry shift where AI infrastructure demands large amounts of memory, leaving fewer resources available for consumer hardware.

If these supply issues continue, Apple may face further constraints when planning future Ultra chips, especially since the Mac Studio lineup currently pairs the M3 Ultra with newer chips like the M4 Max and M5 Max in other configurations.
