Apple’s first foldable iPhone is getting closer to launch, and a new leak has provided what appears to be an early look at the device in a white finish. The foldable model, widely referred to as the iPhone Ultra, is expected to arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup later this year, and recent reports suggest Apple will keep its color choices very limited.
A new image shared by leaker Ice Universe on Weibo allegedly shows Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone in white. While the device shown is believed to be a dummy unit rather than a final production model, the leak offers an idea of what the foldable could look like when it reaches customers.
Meanwhile, fellow leaker Instant Digital claims that white is currently the only “confirmed” finish for the device. That has fueled speculation that Apple plans to focus on simple and traditional color options for its first foldable smartphone.
Apple Reportedly Avoiding Bold Colors
Reports suggest Apple will “stay away from fun colors” and instead offer more classic finishes. Another supply chain rumor points to an indigo option similar to the Deep Blue finish seen on the iPhone 17 Pro, although Apple has not confirmed any details.
The approach would mirror the iPhone X launch in 2017, when Apple introduced the device in just Silver and Space Gray.
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously warned that production challenges could limit supply through at least the end of 2026. Because foldable devices are more difficult and expensive to manufacture, offering fewer colors helps reduce production complexity and costs.
The iPhone Ultra is also expected to carry a price tag above $2,000, which means Apple will likely focus on availability and manufacturing efficiency rather than expanding the color lineup. With launch supply expected to remain tight, buyers may have fewer finish options but an earlier chance to experience Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
