Apple is making a smart change to Camera Control in iOS 27, and it solves a frustration that many iPhone users have experienced. With Siri AI now integrated into the Camera app, Apple has replaced the old Visual Intelligence experience with a new Siri camera mode that feels more natural and easier to use.
As a result, Camera Control now works in a way that better supports quick photography without interruptions. In iOS 18 and iOS 26, a long press on Camera Control launched Visual Intelligence, while a quick press opened the Camera app.
Although the feature helped users look up information through their camera, it often created problems when someone accidentally held the button slightly too long while trying to take a photo. Instead of opening the camera, Visual Intelligence would take over the screen and interrupt the process.
Siri Mode Creates a Better Camera Experience
With iOS 27, Apple has turned Visual Intelligence into Siri mode inside the Camera app rather than keeping it as a separate experience. This change means users can quickly move between Siri mode and standard photo mode with a simple swipe, making it much easier to continue taking pictures without leaving the Camera app.
The improvement also makes Camera Control feel simpler and more focused. Users can start with Siri mode when they want AI assistance and then switch directly to taking photos if needed. Everything now happens within the same camera interface, creating a smoother experience.
Apple already improved Camera Control in iOS 26 by focusing on photography features, and iOS 27 continues that direction.
By reducing complexity and keeping AI tools inside the Camera app, Apple has made Camera Control more practical for everyday use while helping users capture photos faster and with fewer interruptions.
