Lucky Season 1 ending explained

The confrontation reaches its breaking point when Wayne brings out John and demands access to the stolen money. Lucky refuses to surrender immediately, insisting that she and her father must first be allowed to leave.
Wayne then gives Priscilla a gun and orders her to kill Lucky. Instead, Priscilla turns the weapon on Wayne and shoots him. Dutch helps deal with Wayne’s remaining men, and Priscilla finishes Wayne off, ending his control over her and removing the biggest immediate threat to Lucky.
Does Lucky keep the money?
Lucky appears to escape with John, but their reunion does not last.
At a motel, their conversation brings Lucky back to a painful childhood memory. John once used her in a scam that required her to appear to drown in a swimming pool, despite knowing she could not swim. Lucky finally understands that even after everything they have survived, John still sees life through the same series of cons and opportunities.
John later takes the teddy bear containing what he thinks is the crypto seed phrase and leaves without Lucky. However, she has already anticipated his betrayal.
Instead of the phrase, John hears a recorded goodbye from his daughter. Lucky tells him that she will not give him the money and that he will never see her again.
Lucky sends the real seed phrase and laptop to Agent Rand, effectively surrendering the fortune and settling her remaining debt with the FBI.
What does the final beach scene mean?
The series ends with Lucky walking along a beach as the waves reach her feet.
The image directly connects to the drowning memories that followed her since childhood. This time, Lucky approaches the water herself and smiles, showing that she has finally separated her future from John, the money and the criminal world that shaped her.
Apple describes Lucky as a limited series, and Episode 7 has been presented as its series finale, so the story currently ends here rather than setting up Season 2.
