Do the new MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max support USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) to reach 2,000 MB/s with external disks, like Kingston XS2000 Portable SSD?

I don’t have that particular drive with which to test, and despite having piles of USB and Thunderbolt drives here, none of them specifically support this 20Gbps mode. Based upon some conversations in the industry, though, I’m thinking the answer is “no.” That particular mode is very different from USB 4/Thunderbolt and has very limited support.
This makes sense to me. After all, if you’re going to push that fast, why not just add the USB 4/Thunderbolt support and use that far-more-commonly-accepted mode. I’ll have to ask Kingston that very question! 🙂
