Shares in Apple Inc. jumped 8.49% in moderate volume Tuesday amidst a broader, tech-led rally in the markets. The stock closed the day at $99.91 per share, a gain of $7.82 (8.49%), on volume of 58.2 million shares trading hands.
The NASDAQ itself jumped some 9.53%, to close at 1,649.47, a gain of 143.57. That marks the second best gain for the tech-heavy NASDAQ in the last seven years, just behind an 11.8% gain posted on October 13th of this year.
The DOW also closed higher at 9,065.12, up 889.35 (+10.88%), and the S&P closed at 940.51, a gain of 91.59 (+10.79%).
Investors were cheered in part by signs that U.S. credit market may be thawing. There was no Apple-specific news behind Appleis gain within the broader rally.
