Alias has released version 2 of SketchBook Pro, the developeris paint and drawing application aimed at users with pen tablets or Tablet PCs. The software is now available for purchase and download from the Alias Web site, with CD copies shipping June 29.
SketchBook Pro 2 offers several new features, including: better brush controls, with the ability to create and store up to 28 custom brushes; unlimited image layers, with the ability to import images into a layer stack and move, scale, mirror, flip or rotate them; the ability to save a layered file in PSD format for use in Adobe Photoshop; a floating brush resize tool; image and canvas resizing options; the ability to undo or redo up to 75 brushstrokes or actions; and more.
The downloadable version of SketchBook Pro 2 is US$179 while the upcoming CD version will be $199. Educational pricing is $89.99. A 15-day trial version is available. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3, a G4 processor, 256MB RAM, 32MB video RAM and a display capable of 1024 x 768 resolution with millions of colors. Alias strongly recommends the use of a pressure-sensitive tablet and pen.
