Apple on Wednesday reached a settlement with David Schwartzstein, the last of the three men who leaked pre-release versions of Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" on BitTorrent file-sharing servers. The company filed suit a year ago against the three, as well as several unnamed Does, and settled the first two cases in March and April. Apple apparently never pursued a case against additional defendants.
Ina Fried reported the news on Thursday for Silicon.com, referring to a post on DrunkenBlog that detailed the settlement. DrunkenBlog offers more commentary on the situation and includes links to PDFs of the relevant court documents.
Those files donit detail any monetary settlement on Mr. Schwartzsteinis part, but they do require that he immediately return to Apple any information or property he currently possesses, and he is permanently banned from ever owning or distributing such materials. That order applies only to what he received as a member of the Apple Developer Connection, of course.
