C|Net News: Dual 1.8Ghz Power Macs Are Quiet Again

If you are one of the "small number" of Dual 1.8GHZ G5 Power Mac buyers whoive heard their Macs hissing or popping at them, you may be comforted to know that, according the C|Net, Apple has fixed the problem. C|Net is reporting that new Dual 1.8GHZ Power Macs are a lot quieter, and that Apple is offering a fix to current owners, as well. From C|Net:

The problem, which appeared on dual 1.8GHz machines, created a beeping or hissing noise on some machines when used in conjunction with professional external audio gear, according to reports on Macintosh enthusiast sites including Think Secret and Macworld UK. The issue has also been a frequent topic of discussion on Appleis support site.

An Apple representative told CNET News.com that a "small number" of customers have experienced the problem, which has been fixed in production. The company said any customers experiencing the issue should contact the companyis customer support.
