F ireWire Depot started shipping two new products Wednesday, G-Techis G-SATA external Serial-ATA solution and a new 2.5-inch portable hard drive.
G-SATA is an external two-drive aluminum enclosure that features dual Serial-ATA hard drives spinning at 7,200-rpm or 10,000-rpm. Also included in the price is a two-port SATA PCI card with external connectors and two external SATA cables. FireWire Depot says the G-SATA can achieve transfer rates of up to 135MB/sec.
The G-SATA is available in four configurations: 320GB 7200-rpm ($399), 500GB 7200-rpm ($599), 148GB 10,000-rpm ($699), and 800GB 7200-rpm ($1,199).
The G-DRIVE mini is a sleek aluminum 2.5-inch hard drive from G-Tech available in capacities of 40GB, 60GB, 80GB, and 100GB. The G-DRIVE mini is available in FireWire 400 + USB 2.0, FireWire 800, and USB 2.0 configurations.
Prices include the appropriate cable and a leather carrying case, and start at $119 for the 40GB USB 2.0 drive, $149 for the FireWire 400 + USB 2.0drive, and $179 for the FireWire 800 drive. Increasing capacity to 60GB, 80GB, or 100GB costs $50-$180 more.
