Firefox 2.0.0.4 update Includes Security Fixes, More

Mozilla.org updated Firefox to version 2.0.0.4 Thursday, a minor update whose most important features are some security fixes (listed below). For those running Windows on their Intel Macs, Vista support is also included in the release (the Mac and Windows versions are in sync).

The release notes also say that Afrikaans (af) and Belarusian (be) are now available, and that beta releases for several new languages are also available for testing.

The five security fixes listed in the release notes:

  • XUL Popup Spoofing
  • XSS using addEventListener
  • Path Abuse in Cookies
  • Persistent Autocomplete Denial of Service
  • Crashes with evidence of memory corruption (rv:1.8.0.12/1.8.1.4)

You can download the update through the "Check for updates" option in the help pulldown menu, or download it by hand from the Firefox Web site.
