Microsoft to Launch Internet Search Engine

Microsoft is preparing to launch its Live Search Internet search engine on Tuesday. According to Forbes, the new service replaces MSN Search, and is the companyis latest assault on Google and Yahoo.

Live Search is to be one of many free Web-based services offered under Microsoftis "Live" brand name. It seems, however, that most consumers arenit even aware of Microsoftis "Live" brand.

Matt Rosoff, an independent researcher with Directions on Microsoft, commented "In general, I donit think a lot of consumers outside of computer enthusiasts ... are aware of Windows Live or know what it is."

Microsoft will use Live Search on its MSN portal site, and also plans to promote the service this fall.
