Pre-Seybold Excitement Could Not Boost Apple's Ranking

A pple Computer has dropped again in the latest PC Data Top 10 computer rankings. After spending much of the summer in the number one spot, the latest rankings find Apple with their worst ranking of the summer, fifth, on traffic volume of less than 800,000. This also marks the first time in months that traffic to the Apple site has dipped below the 800k mark. Some have speculated, including us, that much of Appleis high traffic totalis are a result of their QuickTime movie trailer page. Thus, the typical end-of-summer movie draught may be a reason for the diminishing traffic. The rest of the Top 10 remained relatively status quo. Compaq, Dell, and HP again held the top three spots, with reseller Outpost showing its highest ranking in some time by placing fourth on the list. The rest of the list includes the usual suspects, with Gateway, Egghead, IBM, and Googlegear staying in the Top 10 and Intel making its way back onto the list.
