Symantec Confirms Norton Products Compatible With OS X

Symantec, maker of the popular line of Norton computer utilities, has confirmed that many of Nortonis most popular products are fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.0. Among the products listed as compatible are Norton SystemWorks, including Norton Disk Doctor, and Norton Internet Security. According to Symantec:

Symantec Corp. today announced that Norton AntiVirus 7.0 for Macintosh, Norton Utilities 6.0.for Macintosh, Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh, and Norton Internet Security for Macintosh support Appleis new Mac OS X platform through bootable compact disk and Mac OS 9.1, included with Mac OS X. Users of Mac OS X will immediately benefit from many of Symantecis market-leading innovations in Internet security, award-winning anti-virus protection and state-of-the-art problem-solving tools to provide comprehensive Macintosh computing solutions.

Macintosh customers using computers released before 2001, as well as the 2001 Titanium PowerBook, can run the current versions of Symantecis Macintosh products with Mac OS X via the software packagesi bootable compact disk, without the need for any additional software. For new Macintosh computers released in 2001, a bootable compact disk series will be available beginning today that will start up these machines and allow customers to analyze and solve problems on Mac OS X. Symantec is also currently developing a complete line of Macintosh solutions designed to run native on the new platform, which are expected to be released this summer.

The bootable compact disks for users of new Macintosh computers released in 2001 - except the 2001 Titanium PowerBook - are available for $14.95 (includes shipping and handling) and can be obtained by completing the disk replacement form located inside Symantecis Macintosh software packages, or by calling customer service at 1-800-441-7234. Consumers can receive the bootable disk free of charge if ordering within 60 days of purchase of the corresponding Symantec Macintosh product.
