Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to Support iOS 5’s Newsstand

Apple’s iOS 5 will include a new magazine subscription manager called Newsstand, and Adobe plans to include support for the feature in its Digital Publishing Suite. Adobe’s DPS is currently used by many publishers to handle digital magazine production for over 600 titles.

“Digital Publishing Suite support for Newsstand will provide Adobe’s publishing customers the ability to deliver engaging content directly to the digital doorstep of subscribers on their iPads,” commented Todd Teresi, Adobe’s vice president and general manager of Media Solutions.

DPS can take content from Adobe’s Creative Suite applications, including InDesign, and convert it into electronic magazines that are viewable on devices such as Apple’s iPad.

Newsstand will let users view all of their digital magazine subscriptions in one place, automatically downloads new issues in the background, and offers access to new subscriptions, too.

Adobe plans to release an update for DPS shortly after iOS and the Newsstand application ship.
