For those new to djay, it’s the digital equivalent of a couple of turntables, allowing users to mix tracks making for a seamless stream of music. Previously that mix was limited to choosing from what was synced to your iPad, or available via iTunes Match. With Spotify Premium, you have access to everything available there, as well. You can get a free one week trial of Premium if you don’t have it already but want to check it out.

Other new features in this update include technology from Echo Nest which helps suggest songs that might coordinate well with the one playing now, and an Automix Radio option to do all the work for you. This way the festivities don’t screech to a halt just because the DJ had a need to jump in the conga line or get jiggy with it or whatever the kids are doing these days.

Currently the app is half price, making it US $4.99 for iPad and $1.99 for iPhone. If you’re craving different controllers, additional ones offered via in-app purchases, which are also half off right now.
