Time Magazine has named the new iMac G5 as their Gadget of the Week. Time was pleased with the price, performance, and looks of the new iMac, and called it a "respectable work of engineering."
The article focused on the features in Front Row, the application that turns the iMac into a digital home media center. Overall, Front Row fared well, but the lack of TiVo-like live recording capabilities left Timeis Wilson Rothman wanting more.
He also felt that the video capabilities were a little weak, and that Apple should offer easier access to programming.
In the end, Mr. Rothman was please with the new remote control, the built-in iSight camera, beefed up graphics, and bundled software that the new iMac sports. His bottom line: "This media machine does everything well."
