Amazon updated its Kindle app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on Wednesday, adding iPad support for textbooks, along with support for Kindle Fire magazine and newspaper subscriptions.
Kindle magazine subscriptions come to the iPad
The Kindle app’s new textbook feature includes rich formatting and layout, support for notes and highlights, the ability to zoom and pan in books, and a linked table of contents. The new magazine feature gives iPad users access to over 400 Kindle magazines and newspapers as single purchases or subscriptions.
The version 2.9 update also added suport for emailing to Send-to-Kindle addresses on all iOS devices, the ability to open PDFs from Mail or Mobile Safari, and a new library organizer.
Kindle 2.9 is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
