Apple announced the immediate availability of new iPod nano models on Tuesday. The new nanos sport an updated user interface that does away with the icon grid found on the previous model, maintains the previous model’s form factor, and is available in seven colors.

The redesigned interface lets users swipe between app icons, includes new fitness-related features that don’t require special interfaces or attachments, and new watch faces. Like the iPod nano this one replaces, it uses a touch surface for navigation and on-screen controls.
Along with the new iPod nano, Apple also unveiled an updated iPod touch along with the iPhone 4S.
The new iPod nano is priced at US$129 for the 8GB model, and $149 for the 16GB version.
