Jobs, Schmidt Seen Talking Business in Public

| News

Word on the street is that Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Google CEO Eric Schmidt aren’t getting along, but you wouldn’t be able to tell by the way the two were acting when they were spotted together on Friday. The two CEOs were seen together outside a Palo Alto coffee shop having a conversation that apparently involved lots of talking on Mr. Jobs’s part and lots of listening on Mr. Schmidt’s part, according to Gizmodo.

Apparently Mr. Jobs was overheard saying “They’re going to see it all eventually so who cares how they get it,” in regards to Web-based content. Shortly after, he said “Let’s go discuss this somewhere more private,” as a crowd began to gather around the them.

Mr. Jobs and Mr. Schmidt have been rumored to be on bad terms over iPhone and Android competition. Despite the potential bad blood, however, it looks like both see the importance of working together and took at least a little time today to work towards common business goals.

Wow! Just… Wow!!!

By the tone of the article, you’d think it was ‘In Touch’ magazine writing about the most recent feud between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston…

I’m sure, by now, Jobs may have already seen (or heard about) the Gizmodo article… and is either laughing his head off, or fuming about it.

It is quite fascinating, though, how big he and Apple had become, to attain such celebrity treatment, even with all the tabloid-style gossip!

My honest opinion? I think this meet n’ greet was totally staged. C’mon. The heads of two of the top tech companies on the planet just happened to sit down to talk right out in the open, at a public coffee shop? We all know how notorious Jobs is about keeping discussions private; if these two were seriously talking turkey on neutral turf they could have just as easily booked a conference room at a hotel or something, away from prying eyes.

Two tech chiefs chit-chatting over a cup of coffee? Certainly. But also two tech chiefs blatantly attempting to show that there is no bad blood.

Quite possible, but then I have seen lawyers go after each other in court and be good buddies otherwise.

Take a look at the photo of them at Gizmodo. Is that a security camera above and to the right of Eric’s head? Could be a light fixture, but if it is camera someone might be able lip read their conversation.
