HBO Go Will Go It Alone

HBO Go might just go it alone, according to CEO Richard Plepler, who made the remarks at Time Warner's investor day event on Wednesday. "In 2015, we will launch a standalone, over-the-top HBO service in the United States. We will work with our current partners. And we will explore models with new partners. All in, there are 80 million homes that do not have HBO and we will use all means at our disposal to go after them," Pleper said.

There are rumblings that Netflix will be reporting some nice earnings, which is probably excellent motivation for HBO to go after the cordcutting crowd. This is very exciting news for me personally, because I've been calling HBO customer service about once a month for like a year now and BEGGING them to let me pay directly instead of having to give more money to the Cable Service Which Must Not Be Named. It doesn't take long, but it looks like I'm going to get my way on this.

Hopefully my crusade for the last two seasons of The Muppet Show on DVD will go my way too…
