I just wanted to take the time to say… “What a load of crap”.

Sorry, but I have to call out these people who think they’ve unlocked Apples master plan and declare “The new MacBook is more like a beefed up iPad than a MacBook Air”. That is just the most absurd bit of overjustification I’ve ever heard and in a few years when you go back to the factors that made you think this way you should be embarrassed.

1) This is not closer to being an iPad than a MacBook
New MacBook runs OSX. It doesnt run iOS Apps. It doesnt have Cellular options. And Its not touchscreen. So how in the world is this closer to being an “iPad” than a “MacBook” when it is purely a laptop that runs OSX and nothing else?

2) Specs DO Mean Something
The overjustification continues as Apple defenders keep hammering how “Oh, this is for students and coffee tables”. Seriously? Is anyone even thinking about what they are saying? Yes, the specs and form factor fit the needs of an studious student or an aspiring coffee table. But the price does not.

3) $1300
This is an overpriced product that’s strongest feature is “sexy”.
Just because a product is Gen1 doesnt mean its supposed to be overpriced. The introduction of the original MacBook Air was priced so high because Apple didn’t know where it should sit in their lineup. But this is many years later and we know exactly where this should sit. And it definitely is not in between the 13” and 15” MacBook Pro.  Drop the price $400 and it makes sense to have limitation of all sorts, but at $1300 then this thing should come with a a few hundred dollars of gift cards to Urban Outfitters.

Sorry for flipping out over this but I really wish podcasters would listen back to archived episodes and hear some of the stuff dripping out of their mouth. “Big iPhones wont work”. “Thunderbolt is the future”. “iPad Mini cant get Retina because of fake reasons”.  and now “The new MacBook is closer to an iPad than a MacBook Air”.

Its just so very very twisted to watch people so concerned with defending the latest Apple product rather than thinking clearly about what it is we are looking it.
