STM has released the dux case for the iPad mini and mini with Retina display. The case meets the U.S. Department of Defense Standard 810F/G drop test while still providing a totally clear back that lets the Apple logo shine forth for all to see. It's very cool.

The case features a magnetic closure that supports instant on/off. The polyurethane cover is water resistant and is rated for a drop test at 6.6-ft (2 meters). The front part of the case is creased and it folds into a stand that works both horizontally and vertically.
Case can be used as a stand in both horizontal and vertical views.
The case weighs 0.45 pounds (0.21 kg) and has an MSRP of US$44.95. It is available in red, blue or black.
Using The Product
It is easy to insert and remove the iPad mini from the case. The magnetic closure works and grabs so that the case remains secure when closed. The camera opening is small, but works perfectly with the camera. The front, which folds back to create a stand, stays in place and works equally well with horizontal or vertical views. I have found that most cases of this sort do not hold well in place when trying to use them in vertical mode. They tend to tilt over, but this one seems to be properly balanced and provides a usable stand.
All the necessary ports are easily accessible and buttons are covered, but properly aligned so they are easy to access. The dux case is quite attractive and the clear back, which is quite hard and sturdy, is a cool feature. The construction provides for an easy grip when carrying.
Textured surface provides for easy carry.
Do I Recommend It?
I do. This case is sturdy, easy to use, provides a see-through back, and is easy to grip and carry. The magnetic fastener works well and provides a Sleep/Wake feature when open or closed. It's a good accessory for any iPad mini or mini with retina display.
