Apple Earnings Smackdown Ranks Analyst Predictions

A scorecard of analysts and their predictions for yesterday's earnings report is available from Philip Elmer-Dewitt over at Fortune. Spoiler: conservative analysts got it wrong and more enthusiastic "amateur" analysts were much closer in their predictions.

What's nice about this piece is that it also rates each analyst across the board with their predictions listed in a spreadsheet and ranked according to accuracy. Philip Elmer-Dewitt has done this with each earnings report, and has for quite awhile. It's a convenient way (particularly if you note the results over time) to see how different analysts assess Apple's performance.

In a world where lots of headlines continue to shout about Apple's obviously impending doom, it's a lovely change of pace to see something level headed and reasonable coming from an analyst, particularly one with enough experience to actually know of what he speaks.
