Apple’s first foldable iPhone is official. The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch folding inner display, a 5.4-inch outer display, the A20 Pro chip, Touch ID in the side button and a starting price of $1,999 for 256GB. Pre-orders open Friday, October 16, and the phone arrives Friday, October 23 in more than 70 countries, according to Apple’s press release.

The Duo was announced at the “Surprise and shine” keynote alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, and Apple’s press release, product page and tech specs now fill in the numbers our pre-event iPhone Duo preview could only estimate, and several of them differ from the rumors.

Displays, design and durability

The 7.6-inch inner display has a nano-texture finish that Apple says reduces glare and minimizes the visible crease, and it is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display. The 5.4-inch outer display has more than 90 percent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro.

The frame is mirror-polished Grade 5 titanium, the hinge cover is 3D-printed from 100 percent recycled titanium, and the outer display sits under Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says has three times the scratch resistance of the previous generation. It is 5.2 mm thick open, 11.3 mm closed, weighs 254 g and is rated IP68 to 6 meters for 30 minutes.

Cameras, chip and battery

The rear system is what Apple calls a 48MP Dual Fusion camera: a 48MP Main at 26 mm and f/1.6, plus a 48MP Ultra Wide at 13 mm and f/2.2. There is no telephoto lens, so zoom tops out at 4x optical zoom range and 10x digital, and there is no variable aperture as on the iPhone 18 Pro camera.

A Camera Control button adds a Siri Camera mode, and four Duo-only features use the outer display: Smart Take, Duo Preview, Kid Cue and Duo FaceTime.

The A20 Pro has a 6-core CPU up to 20 percent faster than the A19 Pro, a 7-core GPU up to 40 percent faster and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, and Apple claims 35 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. The dual battery system is rated at up to 24 hours of typical use, and a 60W USB-C adapter reaches 50 percent in about 20 minutes.
