Apple Starts iPhone 4S Preorders in 22 More Countries

Apple began accepting preorders for the iPhone 4S in 22 additional countries on Friday. Apple launched the its latest smartphone and media player combo in the U.S. and several other countries on October 14, and now plans to have the iPhone 4S available in even more areas by the end of the month.

The new batch of countries where customers can preorder the iPhone 4S includes:

  • Lithuania

  • Sweden
  • Switzerland

Apple sold over a million iPhone 4S units during the first 24 hours of preorders in the U.S., and followed that up with over 4 million sales during the first three days of in-store availability. The first wave of countries Apple released the iPhone 4S in included the U.S. and U.K., Canada, Japan, Germany and France.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S during a media event earlier this month. The new model uses the same body design as the iPhone 4, but includes a dual core A5 processor, a new antenna design, better battery life, built-in combination GSM and CDMA cell network support, an 8 megapixel camera, Siri voice control, and more.

Apple has since started limiting in-store iPhone 4S purchases to reservations only, and online sales are showing up to a two-week wait time.
