Samsung Denies Apple Patent Lawsuit Negotiations

· by · News

Apple and Samsung are locked in a patent infringement legal battle, and Apple’s legal team says top executives from both companies are now involved in negotiations to help resolve the situation. Samsung, however, claimed it isn’t aware of any such negotiations.

“We are unaware of any meetings or discussions between the two sides over this matter,” a Samsung representative told V3.

Apple and Samsung may be negotiating.Apple and Samsung are negotiating over patents. Or not.

The two companies have been fighting in court over patent infringement claims. Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung in April alleging the company’s Android OS-based smartphones and tablets copied the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad.

Samsung responded by filing its own lawsuisuit claiming the iPhone and iPad infringe on wireless data communication and data transmission patents.

Apple expanded its infringement claims last week just as Samsung was turning over unreleased Galaxy and Infuse product samples to the iPad maker’s legal team for review. Apple is expected to file for a preliminary injunction blocking their introduction.

Assuming Apple can win an injunction, it would put more pressure on Samsung to participate in out of court negotiations just like the ones it currently claims aren’t happening.
