Apple Open to Customers Wanting MobileMe Services in iCloud

“Specifically, I bemoaned the loss of sync services (syncing application preferences, keychain, etc.) and the loss of iDisk,” the reader told AppleInsider of his initial email to Cook . “I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from his office just now.”

The anonymous reader said that he was told, “Apple is open to [adding those features to iCloud] if there’s enough feedback on the subject.”

iCloud is the successor to MobileMe, but it’s also a cornerstone of Apple’s approach to how to keep your devices and data synced with one another. From Versions to Photostream to iTunes Match, iCloud offers features not found in the company’s MobileMe service.

At the same time, Apple has said that application preference syncing, keychain syncing, Dashboard widget syncing, Dock item syncing, iDisk, and iWeb publishing will all go the way of the dodo bird when MobileMe is officially shuttered in June of 2012.

It turns out, however, that if enough customers let Apple know that they want to keep some or all of those features, the company may change its mind.
