Apple released the developer beta for watchOS 26.2 earlier this week. The first public beta is now available for everyone who joins the public program. This update arrives alongside other 26.2 betas across Apple’s platforms.
If your Apple Watch already runs watchOS 26, you can try the new build today. Apple lists watchOS 26.2 beta on its official releases page, confirming availability and the current build.
What’s new in watchOS 26.2
Sleep Score categories change. Apple has tweaked the labels and thresholds for the Sleep Score. “Very High” replaces “Excellent,” and the score bands shift to better match real-world sleep quality. You will likely see your nightly rating described differently, even if your sleep does not change.
General fixes and improvements. Apple has not published a long list of watch-specific changes for this build. Expect the usual stability, performance, and bug fixes that come with point releases during the cycle.
How to get the public beta
- On your iPhone, sign in to Apple’s public beta program and enroll your devices.
- Update your iPhone to the iOS 26.2 public beta. Public watchOS betas require the paired iPhone to run the matching iOS beta.
- Open the Watch app on iPhone, go to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and select watchOS 26 Public Beta. Install the update with your watch on the charger and at least 50 percent battery.
Should you install it
Public betas are test builds. You get features early, but you also accept possible bugs, shorter battery life, or app issues. If you rely on the Apple Watch for work or health tracking, consider waiting for the final release.
That is what’s new in watchOS 26.2 public beta 1. Let us know in the comments what you find.
