Apple pushed iOS 26.2 beta 2 to developers today. The update brings a set of small but clear changes across apps, alerts, and animations. These updates improve daily use and refine features introduced in earlier betas.
iOS 26.2 continues to build on the major redesign from iOS 26. Apple is now polishing menus, improving navigation, and updating safety features that help you during emergencies. Here is everything new in beta 2.
New Features and Changes
Measure app redesign
Apple updated the level inside the Measure app. It now uses a Liquid Glass design with two soft, floating bubbles instead of the old white circles. The change gives the tool a cleaner and more modern look.
Games app sorting options
The Games app Library now lets you sort your titles by size. This sits next to the existing Name and Recent options. It helps you quickly find the games that take up the most storage.
CarPlay pinned messages control
CarPlay now supports turning off pinned conversations inside the Messages app. You control this from CarPlay Settings, which gives you cleaner navigation while driving.
Faster menu animations
Menus that pop out from corner buttons now react faster. The animation feels bouncy and closer to what Apple previewed earlier this year. It makes the interface feel more responsive.
Expanded Enhanced Safety Alerts info
Apple added clearer explanations for Enhanced Safety Alerts. These alerts notify you about emergencies such as floods or earthquakes. Your iPhone or Apple Watch delivers these alerts using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data when available.
Enhanced Safety Alerts are turned on by default. You can manage them in Settings under Notifications, then Enhanced Alerts. Improve Alert Delivery uses your approximate location to help alerts reach you quicker, and Apple does not store this location data. You must also keep Alerts and Shortcuts Automation enabled under Location Services for enhanced alerts to work properly.
Lock Screen Liquid Glass slider
iOS 26.2 adds a Liquid Glass slider for the Lock Screen. It lets you adjust how the interface looks with more control.
Urgent reminders
If anyone uses reminders often, urgent reminders can be useful
AirPods Live Translation in the EU
Users in the European Union now get Live Translation support with AirPods. This expands the feature set introduced earlier in iOS 26.
Notes app adds Logitech Muse support
Notes likely adds support for the Logitech Muse accessory on Apple Vision Pro, giving users more precision when writing or sketching.
Edge Light on macOS Tahoe
Apple added a new feature on the Mac called Edge Light. It uses the display to create a soft ring light for better lighting during video calls.
Other refinements
Button animations across the system feel smoother. Many visual touches match the style introduced in iOS 26 and help the interface feel more consistent.
Beta and Release Details
iOS 26.2 beta 2 is out for developers today. A public beta should follow soon. Anyone can join public beta testing from Apple’s beta site. The update supports all iPhones that already run iOS 26.
Apple is expected to release the final version of iOS 26.2 in December, likely between December 9 and December 16.
