iPhone 18 Pro line and Apple’s first foldable set for Fall 2026, says report

Apple’s Foldable iPhone to Feature 24MP Under-Display Camera

Apple is preparing one of its biggest iPhone shakeups in years. The company is lining up three major launches for fall 2026. You will see the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone arrive together. This shift marks a clear break from Apple’s old annual rhythm. It reflects a larger strategy change inside the company.

Mark Gurman detailed the plan in his latest Power On newsletter. He explained how Apple wants a smoother release cycle after years of pressure on its fall lineup. He wrote that Apple is moving into a period of three all-new models over three consecutive years as part of the biggest transformation in iPhone history.

A New Release Pattern

Gurman said Apple wants to spread revenue across the year, reduce internal stress, and avoid piling every major product into one season. He also confirmed that the iPhone Air 2 was never planned for 2026. He wrote: “From what I’ve heard, the second-generation iPhone Air hadn’t actually been earmarked for next year. This means reports of a delay tied to sales are inaccurate.”

The current iPhone Air remains a niche device. Apple treated it more like a technical step toward the foldable than a mainstream product. Gurman added that its main goal was to test materials, internal layouts, and battery designs for the upcoming foldable.

What Apple Plans Next

  • iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in fall 2026
  • Foldable iPhone debuting in the same season
  • iPhone 18, 18e, and possibly an updated Air six months later
  • New spring software cycle focused on iOS 26.4 and the new Siri

Apple wants steadier momentum. The company aims to avoid one heavy launch window and give itself more chances to counter rival phones. The result is a predictable pattern: high-end models in the fall, mainstream models in the spring, and the foldable acting as the next big step in Apple’s long-term hardware roadmap.
