Apple has released fresh firmware updates for AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Pro 2. The rollout arrives ahead of the iOS 26.2 launch, and it prepares both earbuds for upcoming features. You can update your AirPods today if they meet the basic requirements.
AirPods Pro 3 now runs firmware version 8B30, which replaces the earlier 8B25 build. AirPods Pro 2 received version 8B28, an upgrade from 8B21. Apple continues to push separate builds when hardware needs unique tuning.

The company is expected to update its AirPods firmware page soon. For now, Apple still lists older builds.
Apple said the new firmware often includes bug fixes and small performance upgrades.
Sources also noted that iOS 26.2 expands AirPods Live Translation for users in the EU. This timing suggests the new firmware supports that change.
How to install the new firmware
Apple uses a passive update system for AirPods. You cannot force the update, but you can create the right conditions.
Apple shared the steps users should follow:
- Make sure that your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is updated to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, and that Bluetooth is on.
- Make sure that your AirPods are connected via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Connect your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to Wi-Fi.
- Connect your charging case to power.
- Put your AirPods in their charging case and close the lid. Keep the lid of the charging case closed, and keep your AirPods in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Wait at least 30 minutes for the firmware to update.
- Open the lid of the charging case to reconnect your AirPods to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Check the firmware version again.
Apple also confirmed that both AirPods Pro models already support the update process described above. The firmware may also include small refinements not yet listed on the company’s support page.
