Apple has released tvOS 26.2 for everyone, bringing the update out of the release candidate phase and onto supported Apple TV models. Apple seeded tvOS 26.2 RC earlier this month, and the public build is now live as tvOS 26.2 (23K54).
The earlier release candidate build carried 23K53, and it served as the near-final version ahead of today’s public rollout.
How to update to tvOS 26.2
- Open Settings on your Apple TV.
- Go to System.
- Select Software Updates.
- Choose Update Software and follow the prompts.
If you have automatic updates turned on, your Apple TV should install tvOS 26.2 on its own.
- Profiles without an Apple Account so you can add guests or set up a simpler profile for someone who does not use an Apple ID.
- Dedicated Kids Mode in the Apple TV app tied to child profiles, aimed at keeping recommendations and browsing age-appropriate.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements as part of the usual point-update maintenance.
tvOS 26.2 major changes
The biggest change in tvOS 26.2 is how profiles work on Apple TV. You can now create a profile without linking it to an Apple Account, which makes it easier to set up a guest profile or a basic profile for a family member.
tvOS 26.2 also introduces a kids-focused experience inside the Apple TV app. When you mark a profile for a child, the system can apply age-based limits so the Apple TV app shows content that fits those restrictions.
If you have installed tvOS 26.2 already, you can confirm the update by checking the version and build number in Settings. You should see tvOS 26.2 (23K54) on the public release.
