Golf May Be the Next Big Addition to the Apple Sports App

Apple continues to expand the reach of its Sports app, and golf appears to be next.

First, the latest version of the Apple Sports app includes hidden images linked to the men’s PGA Tour and the women’s LPGA. As a result, this strongly points to upcoming support for professional golf inside the app. At the moment, you cannot follow either tour directly, but the groundwork is already in place.

Next, this detail surfaced through a code discovery rather than a public announcement.

According to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, images for both the PGA Tour and LPGA appear inside the app’s internal files. While Apple has not enabled golf tracking yet, the presence of these assets usually signals features that are close to launch. As Perris notes, this change suggests that golf support is “coming soon,” even if Apple has not shared a timeline.

Apple Sports Continues to Grow

Meanwhile, the Apple Sports app already covers a wide range of leagues. You can track scores, stats, and standings for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, Premier League, NASCAR, and Formula 1, among others. By adding golf, Apple would widen its appeal to fans who follow individual tournaments rather than seasonal team schedules.

At the same time, the app remains focused on quick updates. You open it, check scores, and move on. Golf fits that model well, especially during major tournaments where leaderboards change constantly.

Availability and Regional Limits

Finally, Apple Sports remains limited by region. Apple launched the app in 2024, and it currently runs only on iPhone. You can access it in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and several European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Nordic region.

For now, golf fans need to wait. Still, the hidden PGA Tour and LPGA assets show that Apple is actively preparing what comes next.
